Bonavista is located on the tip of the Bonavista Peninsula, along the Discovery Trail.
The journey here is a scenic one with many picturesque communities located along the way- as well as hidden gems located a little further off the beaten path!
There are two routes you can take to get here once you have reached Southern Bay (approximately 65km away from Bonavista).  You can keep driving straight on Route 230 which will take you through Port Rexton, Port Union and Catalina, or you can take the scenic ocean route- Route 235 which will bring you through the communities of Princeton, Summerville, Plate Cove East and West, King’s Cove, Amherst Cove and Newman’s Cove.
Hidden Gems along Route 230- Dunfield, Trinity, Trinity East, New Bonaventure, Champney’s West, English Harbour.  Please make note that the road conditions in some of these places are poor
Hidden Gems along Route 235- Open Hall, Red Cliff, Tickle Cove, Keels, Duntara,
We strongly encourage you to see these hidden gems as they show what outport Newfoundland truly looks like!
